Kew 10.5" Fine Bone China Plate
Kew 10.5" Fine Bone China Plate
6-Colour Screen Printed Plate, Kew
Part of the Thames Towns series.
A 10.5" Decorative Fine Bone China plate, illustrated by local artist Michael Oakes and produced in the Staffordshire Potteries by Edwardian China.
How are our plates produced?
Each plate design has been hand-drawn and put together using a colour separation process - this means that each of the six colours used in each plate (black, grey, red, blue, green and mustard) has its own design drawn separately onto plastic film, each with black ink, making it impossible to see the final result in full colour until the first plates are created. These films are used to create six silkscreen templates, which in turn are used to print the designs in the appropriate colours onto a sheet of wax. The image is transferred from this sheet in the firing process, resulting in the finished product.
